Week 8 - Rock 'n' Roll

Hello all, Jacqui H here! I have chosen this weeks theme! Hey we all say it... "my rock 'n' roll lifestyle", but for me, rock and roll is what sparked my interest in music. Now I'll listen to most things from Classical to heavy rock and punk! So let's go for it and be very
"Rock 'n' Roll"
~Jacqui xx

This weeks we are giving away THIS stash of Blog Candy!!!

Our Winners of last weeks 'Occupations' theme are as follows, in order!

Congratulations Guys!!! Please contact Steph on for your badges and prize.

Now to crack on with this week Rock and Roll theme to inspire you to get that fab blog candy....
Here are our DT projects this week.

Steph: I used the image by Kenny K downloads and coloured it with ProMarkers.
The backing papers are by Rusty Pickle and the 'Rock' Embellishment is by K & Company. I used glitter letters for the title and silver Candi for the studs.

Jacqui M: For this card I used this fab digi from Kenny K. I coloured him with my trusty Promarkers. The DP is some I've had in my stash for a while. I used my Star Nesties and wrote U Rock with a white gel pen. The tiny Polka Dot Button is from Papermania.

Helen: This card reminds me of my nephew David, who is into rock and plays in a band.  Until very recently, he had a Mohawk too!  I've used a base card, records, plectrum and stars from Kanban and added some decoupaged images from Jolly Nation.
Hope you have lots of rockin' & rollin' fun with this challenge :).

Josie: Well for this theme I knew I had to go and get my self some Kenny K digis and put together a rock chick band!! I printed them out on to on A4 bit of card and drew in some lights. I coloured the entire picture with pro markers. I used a quickie glue pen and some glitter on some of the areas such as eye shadow, and then used some glossy accents to high light other areas such as lights and their eyes.

Shelby: I've been wanting a reason to use this digi I picked up from The Stamping Boutique!  This guy is called Max, and he was wanting into this challenge.  I decided he'd be best seen on an easy card. Of course I colored him up with copics in his fav colors, gave his guitar some glossy accents to show it off a bit, and gave him some viva decor pearls in black to add even more dimension.  The edges got inked up to take away the "cleaness" of the sparkling white paper!  Thanks for stopping by today and good luck.

Jacqui H: The image is from Kenny K coloured in with promarkers, the papers are DCWV and I've no idea where the skulls n crossbones r from, I've had them that long! I used weathered wood to look like faded denim on the image to look like an ageing rocker! Or me!!!! Lol

Rock on!!!!!!

Week 7 - Occupations & Professions

Welcome to week 7! Josie & Steph here! We both had the same brainwave on the theme this week.
As the 7/7 anniversary has just past and 9/11 anniversary is very close, I wanted to dedicate this weeks challenge to the peeps in the emergency services. Police, Fire Brigade, Forensics, Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors. But not just those people were affected those days. The tube workers, bus drivers, city workers, controllers who took those emotional phone calls, the people who cleaned up after it all. It affected us all no matter who we are, where we were, what we do.
So lets celebrate our "Occupations & Professions" what ever they may be. Teachers, air stewards, cab drivers, chefs you name it we want to see it!! Hope you enjoy this weeks theme, I cant wait to see your projects! ~Josie xx

Just before we get to our sponsor Id like to announce last weeks winners of the *UNDER THE SEA* challenge. And they are in order as follows

2. Joy
6. Ali
9. Sarah

Congratulations girls. Please contact Steph on to recieve your prize and badges.

Our amazing sponsor this week is The Cutting Cafe
Take a look at their amazing online store, they have so many amazing digis and much more!

Here are the DT's projects this week...

Josie: My choice was obvious, well, to anyone who knows me they would probably guess this as my choice! I asked the lovely Jacqui M to design me one of her fab poodlesdoodles characters, in the form of a little policeman. I squealed when I saw it, It's brilliant! I coloured my little Pc "Nick" with Pro Markers, mounted him on to some rainbow miri card and black card. I then matted and layered some black and white check paper on to the card. I added some great American Crafts glittery chipboard letters on to say "Top Cop". I found the little handcuff keyring on eBay some time ago, and it is absolutely perfect for the card. Hope you like it.

Steph: I used the 'Mrs Davies' image by one of our other sponsors, the lovely Poodles Doodles. I coloured her in with Promarkers and mounted her onto a backing topper by Poodles Doodles which was also coloured with promarkers. I tied a blue ribbon around the side of the card and tied it to a knot. I added the smaller topper and attached the globe with a 3D foam pad and added the butterflies.

Using one of the fab backgrounds from this week's lovely sponsor, my card represents all the great Posties who bring us mail of all kinds throughout the seasons.  Having spent quite a few hours this week delivering hundreds of Yellow Pages around the local villages, I have some empathy with them!!  Snapping dogs, drizzly rain, soggy grassy paths, fights with overgrown bushes, searching for houses with no names - we endured it all!
I have used various stamps on the tag, including Joanna Sheen Village Life; Crafty Individuals postmarks; Creative Expressions crackle background; and Dovecraft snail.  I've added Glossy Accents to the postbox and snail shell, and used Distress Ink in Walnut Stain to edge the background paper and tag.  The flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The seam binding is from Stampin' Up! and the little peg is from my stash.

Jacqui M: I used Lil Mechanic from my store Poodles Digi Doodles. I coloured him with Promarkers as always, the DP's are from the Ledger Pad from Making Memories. I also used Blue and Black cardstock from my stash. The sentiment was from a Woodware Clear Stamp Set " Circular Greetings".

Shelby:  Thanks for stopping by today!  I used Ernie the Carpenter from Bonibleaux Designs (Dude time doodles).  The sentiment is also from Bonibleaux.  I used my second spouse, copics, to color him up and paired him with Creative Imagination paper called Be a Man.  I was trying out some of my new distressing stain in peeled paint to ink around the edges.  Can't wait to see what ya'll create this week!

Jacqui H: I used a sheet from crafters companion male occupations (ta friends cd, thanks Norma). Used a 7 gypsies paper to look like invoices or job sheets. And added peel off words.

Yup, you read it correctly!! Thats SEVEN digi's going to the winner. Makes me want to enter my own challenge!! :-)
So onto this weeks challenge which is
We thought with it being mid July and the summer holidays approaching, we would love to see your interpretations of the sea. It could be a marine look or the beach or whatever reminds you of being by/under the sea, and to help you along the way, our lovely Design Team have been super busy again.

Jacqui M: I decided to make a concertina card for this challenge, the images I hand drew just for this challenge. The DP are a mix of Tim Holtz Vintage Shabby and free polka dot papers from Simply Homemade Magazine. I coloured the images with Promarkers and used self adhesive gems for the bubbles. The sentiments were Pink Petticoat free with Simply Cards and Papercraft Magazine (old issue).

Helen: For this card, I've used a lovely digi image from Bugaboo, which has been printed onto Stampin' Up! Whisper White cardstock and edged with Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress Inks.
I came across this lovely glazed water paper in my local craft shop and had to buy it as I knew this challenge was coming up!  I've coloured in the image with Stampin' Up! stampin write markers, and highlighted the fish, heart, and the oxygen tank with a Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen in clear glitter sparkle.  For the bubbles, I have added some little table decoration gems from my stash, then I've added a wave from K & Co.

Jacqui H: I stamped the mermaid image onto a postcard and coloured with promarkers. Used glitter glue for the border. I matt and layered tonal blues and used some seaside themed embellishments and a toned ribbon.

Steph: I downloaded my Crab from Bugaboo Stamps and printed 3 off. I coloured them all with promarkers and cut them out. I layered them up 'Decoupage' style and mounted the topper onto blue paper by NitWits. I drew bubbles to the left side of the card and added glitter and added the topper to the card. I added glitter to the crab image and made the greeting freehand, which was also mounted onto blue NitWits paper. I attached that with a 3D foam pad and added gems to finish.

Josie: I had already bought a digi stamp when I saw this was one of our themes, and then I found out the lovely Bugaboo was sponsoring us! So I made a card from the original digi, and bought another digi from Bugaboo and made a book mark! I'm keeping the book mark for myself! :)
I coloured both images with pro markers. For the card I found some lovely Basic Grey papers and matted and layered with my most fave turquoise glitter film. I then edged the image with glossy accent and covered some papermania glitter which matches perfectly. I had some stickers which I placed next to the image. I had these mini star fish embellishments which I coloured with peach pro marker and covered in glossy accents and sprinkled with a touch of glitter. I then used papermania adhesive irridescent glimmer dots to look like bubbles. For the book mark I did pretty much the same thing but threaded some mini bead of all different shades of the sea.

Shelby  I inked this so cute it's edible digi with my copics.  I used some Basic Grey papers from their Lauderdale collection and used magic mesh to try and create a fishing net effect.  I also used some liquid applique to create wave caps.  I put some glitter on the applique while it was still wet to give it some shimmer.  The cute little sentiment is a chipboard sentiment from Me&My Big Ideas.

Week 5 Challenge - Tea Party

Hi everyone, Jacqui M here, this week its my turn to set the challenge and I decided on the scrumptious theme of
So come on lets see those cakes, tea, buntings etc and join in the fun... who knows... it could be you winning the fantastic prize on offer this week.

Just a to announce our winners of last weeks SPEED challenge are as follows in order

#2 Krafty Karen
#6 Juel Marie
#8 Sarah

Congratulations guys. Please contact Steph on to collect your badges and prizes.
Our Sponsor this week is the fabulous

and Nikky has offered our winner the prize of the CD Rom *Double Sprinkles of Kraft*

I'm sure this is a prize that one of you really woild love to get your hands on. So lets see your creations and get them entered. Not sure what to do?..... here are this weeks Design Team projects to give you a little inspiration!
Jacqui M: I used the totally Scrumptious DP from Tim Holtz Vintage Shabby Paper Stash, my trusty Scalloped Circle and Circle Nesties. My image is one of my hand drawn digi stamps, the strawberry stamp and Sentiment stamp are  Whiff Of Joy images. I used Promarkers to colour the images and a Martha Stewart Edge Punch to create the border strip. The handmade flower was created by scrunching scalloped circle Nestie shapes.

Steph: I have chosen to use the "Teacup Template" that is available to download at Polkadoodles. I coloured it with promarkers and layered it up with 3D foam pads. I used stickles to glitter it up and coloured plain white satin ribbon and white mulberry flower with promarkers. I added the flower and ribbon and added candi to the middle of the flower. The sentiment was something from my old stash box.

Josie: Well as it's the super-duper Polkadoodles sponsoring us this week, I had to use the Alice stamps and CD ROM for this theme! The mad hatters tea party!! So first, I printed some backing papers from the Wonderland CD Rom. I mounted them on to pale blue pearl card, and some rainbow miri card. I added some pale blue and white striped ribbon from the Fru Fru Blue Hawaii Pack, across the joining of the papers. I took two of the sentiments from the Wonderland stamps, and with Tim Holtz Distress Ink, I lightly stamped them over the backing papers. I then stamped two more images to make a little charm, the "Drink me" bottle and the Tarts. I found a cat charm and used a Pro Marker to colour him in to look like the Cheshire cat. I then stamped the rabbit on the card and then on some copy paper. I cut him out and used Letratac from Letraset to put one rabbit on top of other, then I stamped the mushrooms to make it look like a path (Not my idea! Nabbed from a fellow Polkadoodler). Then added some flowers and a swirl from miri card.

Helen: A few weeks ago, I found some great We R Memory Keepers scrapbook packs from a well known designer outlet for a fraction of the normal price.  Now it's not very often that I find a bargain, and these were just too good to pass by!!  So, I have taken the base paper and matching cardstock cake stickers from one of the packs to make this card.
I've added glitter glue to some of the flower centres, and made good use of a paper doily that I recycled from a trip to the coffee shop!

Jacqui H: This card was made by using a KanBan topper and sentiment layered onto Hunky Dory card. This was then in turn mounted onto a scalloped card blank. From a coffee drinker I don't think it's too bad.

Shelby: The fabulous Polkadoodles is sponsoring us this week!!  They have some gorgeous items in their shop so give 'em a gander!  Today for our marvelous tea party, I made up a tea gift wallet.  The teapot set is from the Stamping Boutique and the papers were from the Archiver's clearance section and the base from PTI.  I used my lovely copics to color up the tea pot, flowers, banner and the tea cups.  I also used some tonerex glitter on the dots to give a bit more shimmer and shine.  This particular wallet I made with just two envelopes to hold a gift card and a bag of tea, but a third envelope could be added.

in order....

#2 Diane (On The Cards)
#6 Zoe Kirkby
#10 Sharon

Congratulations guys. Please contact Steph on for your prize details and badges.
Our sponsors this week are :

They will be generously be giving our winner and runner ups a digi prize from their store.
For inspiration, Our Design Team girls have been hard at work again and here are their creations!

Jacqui H: I just love minis, they are probably the funnest cars to drive ever in my opinion. So when I got the KanBan Haynes Manual sheets and the Papermania Vintage car stamp set this card had already made itself. All I added was a page out of an old road atlas for the backing sheet and Bob's you're Aunty! One A5 card ready to go!

Helen: I love red sports cars!  Sandy and I bought a little MG Midget once, and he went to pick it up from Liverpool and then drove it all the way home to our old house in Ross-on-Wye ... happy days :).
For this card, I've used Teen Angst background paper and an embossed arrow from We R Memory Keepers, a sports car decoupage image from my stash, and a metal embellishment.  The sentiment is from Tim Holtz

Jacqui: I used an image from our Fab sponsor Kenny K, love these images. I used cardstock from my stash and the checked dp is free with the current issue of Simply Homemade magazine. I also used a Martha Stewart Edge Punch, and coloured her with my trusty old Promarkers.

Steph: I used card from my own stash and attached polka dot paper to Rainbow Mirr board. Then I used the "Biker Chick" digi by our sponsor Kenny K,  coloured with Promarkers and mounted to Rainbow Mirr board. I wrapped ribbon round the backing card and tied to a neat bow. I added a little quote to Rainbow Mirr board to finish off.

Shelby:  I'm super excited to be joining the fantastic other DTs of Glitter Geeks:) I wanted to say the other Gleeks, but then someone might think I could sing and dance. I'm incredibly honored to have been invited and hopefully I don't disappoint. I was stoked that Kenny K was sponsoring this challenge. His images are fun and quite creative. I chose his Spy Chick digi to ink up with my copics though there are a lot of his images that would've worked wonderfully with this challenge! I used TCP Girlfriend Phrases paper which I thought fit the attitude of the spy chick, and I love the color combo of pink and black. Good luck and have fun.

Josie: This week I used a Kenny K digi! Kenny K's is the first ever digi's I bought. I always swore I would never go digi! And although I will never go away from rubber stamping, I have a new found love of digis. You must check them out, they are such fun images and great to colour! I used this image for a friend's little lad, and I coloured with pro markers. I used basic grey paper and took the colour inspiration from that. Then backed with lime green glitter paper and American crafts lime green chipboard letters!
