This week's challenge theme came to me when I was listening to my idol, Rod Stewart.  I was lucky enough to hear both Rod and Stereophonics sing this song at Glastonbury.  So, come on, let's see your finest 'Handbags & Gladrags' creations!

The lucky winner will receive a Digi Stamp prize from the fabulous Poodles Doodles

Here are our Design Team projects!

Helen: My card has been created using Kanban's Frou Frou kit.  I've used a base card from the kit and added a decoupaged image to match.  The flower is hand made by punching out eight pieces of black lacy paper from the kit, using a scallop punch, and joining them together with a jewel brad.
The foliage has been die-cut using black mirri card and the Little Leaves Sizzlits die from Stampin' Up!  I've then added a hand written sentiment and edged this with very fine glitter.

Stephanie-EmmaI couldn't resist using this cute little stamp from Lili of the Valley for this challenge!  I decided to make a stepper card.  I used papers from Craftwork Cards and coloured the stamp with Kuretake Zig art and graphic pens.  I finished it off with some peel offs, ribbon, a punched strip of flowers, some gems and some candies.

Jacqui H: started by playing with a chipboard handbag and covering it in a floral paper. I embossed the area where the handle would attach with gold powder to mimic brass clasps. I highlighted some flowers with stickles and disstress stickles. I then used glossy accents to pick out some of the dots.
I stamped the border with KanBan clear stamps and coloured the images with watercolour pencils, I then washed the background of the border with the greens from "spice" Big n Juicy. I mounted them onto an 8X8 card using a tonal backing paper behind.

Steph:  used a handbag card and coloured a die cut flourish with ProMarker. Added "Lotty" from the Poodles Doodles range which was also coloured in Promarkers. I used Candi on the handle and mulberry flowers to the flourish with Candi on the inserts. I added a Hunky Dory sentiment and stickles to finish off.

Josie: For this theme I used the lovely Lili of the Valley stamp, I then coloured with Pro Markers. The card is backed with the lovely Pinflair gingham and polkadots double sided card. Backed on to my fave self adhesive glitter film and then added some ribbon, gems, flowers and a craftworks cards sentiment, which is also coloured with Pro Markers!

Jacqui M: I used one of the sassy Kenny K images for this challenge, quite different from my usual cute style. I coloured her with Promarkers as usual lol. The DP's are the Beautiful and totally Scrumptious Tim Holtz  Vintage Shabby Paper Stash, I used self adhesive pearls and gems, and the border punch is by the one and only Martha Stewart.

Steph: I have used blue card stock with white dotty embossed card. Lili of the Valley 'Dads The Word' stamp with blue ink and coloured with ProMarkers, Added blue Candi and blue organza ribbon to finish.

Josie:I really struggle with cards for men! But with Lili of the Valley stamps and toppers it's really easy! I used my new Lili of the Valley Happy Times stamp. Coloured with Pro markers and backed on to some lovely Basic Grey paper. If my brother is lucky he may get this card!

Stephanie-Emma:  I've also used a Lili of the Valley stamp which I have coloured with Aquamarkers.  I stamped the letters and coloured them blue before using glitter film over the whole rectangle of silver card to make it extra sparkly (the sparkle doesn't photograph well).  I needed the word to be the main focus of the card as my Grandad is almost blind so need him to be able to read it!! Finished it off with a piece of paper punched with Martha Stewart punch, some ribbon, candies and nesties.

Jacqui H: well this had to be the daddy of cool, Mr Frank Sinatra. I used a blue card blank and cut the corner off the right side of the front and approx one inch off the front so the back peeps through. I made an insert using a marble vellum. Using Music Score vellum as the backing paper and mounting the image from KanBan on the front. I cut a co-ordinating panel and used this for the base of my greeting sentiment and added this to the insert so it was viewable from outside.

Jacqui M: I used my little Super Hero digi stamp for this card. I then did some matting and layering with blue and black cardstock, and some gingham dp. I used the smallest star nestie and wrote the letters dad on them. The self adhesive gems were coloured with a permanent marker pen and the image was coloured with the trusty Promarkers.

Helen: Last week I was asked to make birthday cards for a customer's two grandsons. Having made their birthday and Christmas cards for the past three years, I have a good idea of what they both like now, and knowing that Bryce loves football, I thought this Lili of the Valley 'Football Crazy' stamp would fit the bill perfectly. Luckily for me, it also coincided with the theme for our second challenge!

I've used Promarkers to colour in the image in our local football team's strip, and die-cut it using a Nellie's Multi Frame, then mounted onto papers and card from my stash. The football has been highlighted with Glossy Accents and I've used a Martha Stewart punch on the yellow card, and Papermania Kraft cardstock as a base. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Papermania's It's A Man's World clear stamp set.

(We are very relaxed here at GG towers, but please make sure you have a peek at the rules!)

Week 1 Challenge - Glitz & Glamour

Hello all, Josie here! Welcome to the first Glitter Geeks Challenge!! We are all very excited and can not wait to see all of your wonderful creations! Please spread the word and get all your friends crafting with us!

We're proud to announce our fabulous sponsor for our launch is none other than Joanna Sheen herself.

In celebration of our launch she is very kindly giving the winner of our challenge a
£30 Voucher
to spend on her online store. How amazing is that??

Now on to our theme for this week! To celebrate the launch of Glitter Geeks, we want to see all that shines and shimmers on your creations! So our theme will be:
*GLITZ & GLAMOUR*
(Your creation doesn't have to be a card, it can be anything as long as it ties in with the theme.
Please check the rules on the sidebar! And remember to have LOTS of fun!)
And to help you crafters with some inspiration, here are some creations by our lovely design team.

Josie:  As Joanna Sheen is our lovely sponsor this week, I decided to use one of her products! I used a House Mouse stamp. I coloured the image with pro markers, added some glitter by using star dust pens on the shells and the sea and used glossy accents over the top. The backing paper is Basic Grey. I added glitter card, flowers and gems! As the weather is fairly warm at the moment, I had to use the image and colours that symbolise a lovely holiday.

Steph: I have gone for an image by Kenny K coloured with Promarkers and glammed up her outfit with stickles. Attached onto glitter card and mounted over blue card from my stash with a ribbon tied to a bow. I coloured and glittered up some flowers and used glittered Candi on the insides. Added a HunkyDory sentiment and gems to finish.

Jacqui H: This card just screamed glitz and bling so that's what I did.  I used a stepper card as the base. Debbi Moore Art Deco papers, I cut the elements I wanted to use from one sheet. It just so happens it's the one that's my favourite colour, purple. I glittered her head dress and dress with Diamond Sparkle glitter. I put gems around the border and onto her dress then left it to dry. I backed the stepper card with co-ordinating mirri card, and edged with peel off's, then popped on my main image and sentiment.

Helen: I chose some paper from Craftwork Cards that already had the words 'Glitz' and 'Glamour' as my base, and layered this onto silver mirri card. I have chosen one of my favourite stamps, Beaded Bodice from the Couture Collection by Stampendous, and using Versamark ink and Black Glint WOW embossing powder by Sheena I've heat embossed the image onto cream cardstock and matted onto black cardstock.
For the flower, I've used the Bigz L Fun Flowers die from Stampin' Up! and added some black marabou feathers, a hat pin from Wild Orchid Crafts, and a black gem for the flower centre. The whole card has then been mounted onto black card.

Jacqui M: I have used a new digi for my first DT card, this is Miss Diva. She just had to be glittered lol, especially those glasses and that bow in her hair. I coloured her with the trusty old Promarkers, and just had to use the wonderful pink glitter card with her, for added bling I used some self adheshive gems. Thought the little sentiment was just apt for her lol.

Stephanie-EmmaI wanted to come up with something very glitzy and with lots of glitter as this is the first glitter geeks challenge!  I have used an image from The Poodles Digi Doodles 'Princess Penelope' - I think she looks quite glamorous!  I have coloured Princess Penelop's hair and skin with promarkers and painted her clothes with cosmic shimmer.  I also painted the card candies with cosmic shimmer to match her gown.  Princess Penelope is stuck to the pink glitter foam using an 'action wobble' and then this has then been mounted onto silver glitter card.  I have finished off the card with flat back gems all around the edge.

You've seen them all now, lets see what you can show us!!!
