Week 12 - All around the world

Hello all! Josie here! Before I go on to my theme for this week, Steph has added the winners from last week below.

And our winners from last weeks 'Sketch' challenge are as follows in order.
1. Helen
2. Deanne
3.Dee

Congratulations people. Please contact Steph on PepperyApple@Gmail.com to collect your prize/badge.

Right, now I was thinking about my cards this week and I thought, I tend to stick to the same colours for people, similar colour backgrounds. Although they are lovely, where is the excitement?
After all... that's why we are all different, because the world would be a boring place if everything and everyone was the same! So for this weeks challenge, I want to see projects and images that are inspired or come from different cultures and countries "all around the world"! What is the best place you have visited or studied? For example your inspiration could be from colours of clothing from national dress etc. The world is your oyster! I can't wait to see what you all produce! ~Josie xx

Our Sponsor this week is the lovely PoodlesDoodles!

Here are our lovely DT projects

Josie: Like Jacqui H I too went with the Native American Theme, When I saw this stamp from Magnolia, I knew I had to do it. I have always had a fascination with Native Americans and their culture. I wanted to add something authentic and the background image is from google. I knew when I saw it that my stamped image had to be subtle to match the colours. So I coloured it using Letraset Aqua Markers. I added some rainbow miri card for a bit of shimmer, some feathers to match her headband and a lovely little butterfly charm to finish it off.

Steph: I thought I'd go for the Geisha type of thing this week. I'm not really one for pinks and yellow but I didnt want to use the typical reds and oranges for a chinese theme.
The pink and yellow card is from my own stash, the papers are by Pink Petticoat, the ribbon and flowers are from my own stash also. The butterfly is by nestibilities which I glittered up on the wings. The Girl image, coloured with promarkers, and sentiment I saved from Google images. Quite a cute little budget card really.  All held together by pinflair. And Voila!!

Jacqui H: For this card I used the Native American Dream Catcher idea. I used all KanBan from a kit I bought a while ago. Hope you like.

Helen: My card has been made for my friend, Nicoletta, who is currently on holiday in her homeland of Italy.  I know that she will be really upset to come home and leave her parents behind, so this card is to bring a little bit of Italy to her!
The base paper is from Melissa Frances' 5th Avenue, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa image is from an Etsy store owned by Sabrina Zanetti, and mounted onto a piece of chipboard that has been painted with Ranger's Lake Mist Paint Dabber and stamped over with a crackle stamp from Creative Expressions.  I've added some Glossy Accents to the roses, too.  The words have been stamped using an alphabet stamp set from Studio G.  They have then been dipped in Lake Mist and Stream alcohol inks and edged with a Krylon gold leafing pen to make them 'pop'.
Looking forward to seeing all of your creations this week! xx

Jacqui M: For this weeks theme of All Around The World, I decided to go with Paris and my love of Coffee lol. I have used the Free Papers from an old issue of Making Cards Magazine, they are designed by Nikki Hall of the Fabulous Polka Doodles. I Cased a card she did in the magazine, I changed a few things on it. The Polka Dot Buttons and Bakers Twine are from The Ribbon Girl.

Close Up Of The Image

Shelby:  Thank you so much for stopping by today! I decided to go with the whole world theme instead of picking one culture or one country.  I picked up this too cute of a stamp called World Civics 101 by Little Darlings to use for this challenge.  I paired him up with some October Afternoon paper called Boarding Pass which I thought went perfectly with the challenge.  The sentiment "where in the world" is from Jillibean Soup.

Hi there!  I have used Steph's fab sketch to make my lovely friend Michelle's birthday card!  The image is from Lili of the Valley, and coloured in with Flexmarkers.  The pale colours of the Flexmarkers are ideal for these cute images.  The image has been layered onto a cotton doiley from my crafty friend Sarah, and then onto Rose Red textured cardstock from Stampin' Up! .  I have used some Springtime Vintage DSP from Stampin' Up! to compliment the tiny flowers on the image, then added three handmade mulberry paper roses from Wild Orchid Crafts and a greeting from Craftwork Cards.  The card base is Pear Pizzazz, also from Stampin' Up!.  I hope you have plenty of fun creating your masterpieces this week :).

Steph:
Woohooooo!! This is my first Christmas card of the year. I made quite a fairly simple sketch as I found most sketch challenges to be quite complicated. I used a Christmas Winnie digi by our fabbie sponsor Willow Designs. I used the card and papers from my own stash. Winnie was coloured in with Promarkers and I added green gems to finish.

Josie:
I'm not usually a huge fan of sketch challenges, but Steph came up with a good one here! It's a lovely layout! I printed the digi image and the patterned paper from the Double Sprinkle of Kraft Cd Rom. I coloured the image with Pro Markers. The glitter card is from C&C and so is the pearlised swirly card.

Jacqui M:
For my card this week I used one of my digi's, Holly In Jeans. The image was coloured in using the trusty old Promarkers. The DP's were all free with the latest issue of Simply Homemade mag. The Polka Dot Buttons are from Papermania and the greeting is from my stash. This was such a fab sketch to work with, I'll definately be using this again on my cards, thanks for a fab sketch Steph.

Shelby
For my card I used one of the digis from our fabulous sponsor! I was excited to finally get my first Christmas card done. Of course this cutie was colored up with copics.  The top of his stocking got a bit of liquid applique for some dimension.  And the gorgeous papers are from Authentique called journey.  The pearls are from Viva Decor liquid pearls in gray and the tag and sentiment are from my stash.  Thanks for stopping by today, can't wait to see your amazing designs and good luck!

Please leave your projects with Mr.Linky below and good luck!!
Happy Crafting!!

Here are all our DT projects this week!

****

For my card this week I chose to use the colours from the inspiration photo above. The image is my hand drawn character, she will be available soon from my store the poodles digi doodles. I have used the trusty old Promarkers to colour her, DP were all from my stash. I used a Martha Stewart Edge Punch for the border, the tiny Polka Dot Buttons are Papermania.

Steph:
My card was inspired by the flowers in Jacqui's photo. I used Gracie from Whimsy Stamps and coloured her with ProMarkers. The backing paper is by Craftwork Cards, the green backing card is from my own stash, the green and white ribbon is from Hobbycraft, the sentiment was a free digi I found via Google images and the flower and gem is by Bo Bunny.

Hi there!  This week I have chosen Gracie's Roses image from our wonderful sponsor Whimsy Stamps, printed onto Very Vanilla cardstock from Stampin' Up! and coloured in with the fabulous new Flexmarkers from Letraset which are currently only available from Create and Craft.  I have die cut the image using Spellbinders Floral Doily Motifs.  The background paper is from the Chanteuse Collection from Kaisercraft, which is matted and layered onto Regal Rose and Rose Red cardstock from Stampin' Up! (keeping the theme going!!).

The sentiment is from a lovely stamp set by Stempelglede, called Just a Note.  I have been trying to buy this set for ages, but it kept selling out.  I thought the sentiment was perfect for this theme!  I have used a Labels Eight Spellbinders die to cut the sentiment out, and edged this with an 18kt gold leafing pen from Krylon (well, she is a special little girl!).  I've then added a metal butterfly from my stash, rosebuds from Wild Orchid Crafts, and pearls from Stampin' Up!.  The base card is from Craftwork Cards.  Looking forward to seeing all your lovely creations :) xx

Jacqui H: You may have guessed I don't use a computer for crafting, not because I can't, but because I don't have one at home! I live on my Blackberry (other smart phones are available). I used the picture for the colours, I used my nesties to cut out the shapes.
Coloured an image from Whimsy Stamps. I then added a spray of flowers.
This card was made for my friend Lynn who is suffering with shingles! Get well soon huni!!

Josie: This week I used this lovely stamp from Whimsy stamps.  My inspiration was to use the colour theme from the photo, and I coloured it with Pro Markers. I added some glitter to the bees wings to add some sparkle. I also used two different Basic Grey backing papers.

Shelby This week I'm using this pretty image from Whimsy Stamps and I took inspiration both from the colors as well as the flowers.  The flowers were colored up with copics.  The pretty paper is from Cosmo Cricket's collection called Clementine.  The vase and the flower centers got some stickles in stardust and the around the flowers I added some Ranger liquid pearls.  Thanks for coming by to see us today, and I hope to see your beautiful creations!

Helen: Hi there!  This week, I've chosen an image from my favourite House Mouse Designs from our fab sponsor, Joanna Sheen called Ice Cream.  The image is coloured using Aquamarkers, and cut out using a Spellbinders Nestie die.  The cake frosting and Martha Stewart butterfly trim are highlighted with Hunkydory Angel Whispers Diamond Sparkles from Cardcraft Plus.
The central cream handmade mulberry paper rose is from Wild Orchid Crafts, and the two burgundy organza flowers are from MeiFlower.  The sentiment is from the Dreamy Days set from Lili of the Valley, and I have added some flourishes from a Sizzix sizzlit die set called Decorative Swirls across the bottom.  The cardstock is Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight, and the image is faux stitched using a Stampin Write marker, all from Stampin' Up!  Have fun with your creations! xx

For my Furry and Feathered I used 'Warren' from Craftwork Cards. I used Promarkers to colour and mounted him onto some silver card cut with nestibilities. The backing papers I used are by Pink Petticoat mounted onto deep red card which I also used for the scalloped border. I added mulberry flowers with candi middles and my own sentiment to finish.

Josie: This week I used one of my Joanna Sheen House Mouse Stamps. I coloured with pro markers, added some wink of stella on the rain drops and then some glossy accents.

Jacqui H: Meerkats! Who doesn't love them? Be honest! Well I love them and fell in love with the Hunky Dory kit that this was made from.

Shelby: Thanks for joining us again this week!  I picked the Just for You bear from Karen's Doodles to color up.  I paired this cutie up with Bo Bunny papers called Ambrosia.  Of course, he and the beautiful flowers were colored up with copics with a few stickles tossed in here and there.  Thanks for stopping by and can't wait to see what ya'll create.
